After several Edition Hotels headquartered in Miami Beach, London and Istambul, it’s time for the Big Apple to have the latest in the collection. The project was lead by architect David Rockwell and developer Ian Schrager, who considered this luxurious project a one-of-a-kind challenge.
Working in a historical structure meant to preserve elements of the original structure, David Rockwell also wanted to provide modern accommodations demanded by the kinds of travelers frequenting a boutique hotel, which are seeking for an unique experience.
The main Restaurant:
Located on the second floor of our Flatiron District hotel, this gastronomic gem is under the direction of Executive
Chef Jason Atherton and offers a restaurant menu of updated classics and contemporary British fare.
The New York Edition Hotel brings together lasting comfort, extraordinary style and an exceptional level of service in a uniquely individual environment. Located across from Manhattan’s Madison Square Park in the Gothic-style Metropolitan Life Tower, the hotel features a palette of natural hues and rich textures. “The space doesn’t feel unapproachably minimal,” says Rockwell Group founder David Rockwell. “And it doesn’t feel kinetic. It feels inviting.”
From the discreetly swank lobby to the calmly chic guest rooms, Rockwell succeeded in helping Schrager once again reimagine what a hotel could be. “A goal and a mantra was to create an environment that is both timeless and timely,” says Rockwell.
