Settled in the idyllic Tulum, an old property of Pablo Escobar was transform into a luxury hotel, Casa Malca. The history of this incredible property goes back in the time when it belonged to Pablo Escobar for years. It was discovered in 2003, after being empty for a decade, it was restored, enlarged and designed by its current owner, the New Yorker, Lio Malca, an art collector.

Today it is a modern hotel worthy of a museum with contemporary art works by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, among others.
The hotel was designed to feel like an intimate beach house, the recently restored resort offers the most spacious and luxury rooms in Tulum. “For the creative visionaries handling the stellar renovation here, the job was as much archaeology as architecture as the pools had been consumed by a huge sand dune.”
Casa Malca, a member of the Design Hotels group, is a dream villa facing the sea with a unique interior design.
Enclosed by rich vegetation, it has 42 rooms; some overlook the sea, others facing the garden.
Artisan products, luxury furniture design and art pieces, as well as warm textures and soft fabrics used in the bedroom decor.
The interior design project for Public spaces at hotel incorporate Mayan themes, natural wood, large windows for maximum exposure to the sun, and bursts of color that serve to inspire guests.
In the restaurant, local ingredients are used to prepare traditional Mexican dishes and contemporary interpretations of world cuisines. As an installation of James Turrell, the steam room is lit with various colors and faces directly into the pool.
