David Chipperfield Architects reference Italy’s limonaia with their latest project. Set upon the Lake Garda, the luxury villas are integrated within the sloping terrain with panoramic views of its surroundings. This projects seeks to retain the original atmosphere of the site characterized by grass covered terraces, olive groves and cypress trees.
The two villas are divided into one- and two-story buildings built on a plinth, each framed by three solid exterior walls made of natural stone masonry. Pergolas are placed in front of the villas, echoing the surrounding olive groves and providing protection from the warm sun.
These two villas are an architectural contribution to a bigger development in the area – the Villa Eden Gardone luxury resort – made up of seven villas, a hotel, and an apartment building designed by a host of renowned architectural practices including Richard Meier and Matteo Thun.
