Salone del Mobile is back to Milan and with her the natural mess of one of the world’s biggest luxury furniture. Urban Tree Lounge is a project signed by Minneapolis-based heavyweight 3M with the collaboration of the local firm Stefano Boeri Architetti. Providing a place to reflect and take a pause from the 55th annual Milan Design Week was the main gold of this project.
Take a deep breath in Urban Tree Loung and get ready for the 55th annual Salone Del Mobile – the place where design industry converges, in Milan. The installation uses nonwovens, 3M’s films and adhesives to create a kaleidoscope of dancing light. At the urban tree base, iSalone visitors can recline on a mini landscape constructed with 3M Nomad Matting while watching the conceptual arbor made of 3M reflective film. A funny and bright game of lights with the best of design creativity and innovation: this is the definition of Milan Design Week and Urban Tree Lounge.

“[The] conceptual tree, like an organic one, absorbs, filters, and mirrors the sunlight to create a shadow to reflect and recharge. It’s my hope that this prototype can influence creative approach to design in public spaces.”, says Stefano Boeri, CEO of Stefano Boeri Architetti.
