London-based jewellery designer Akiko Shinzato has recently launched a new jewellery collection, inspired by people’s obsession with their appearances. Using precious materials such as leather and crystal, in combination with soft metals, Shinzato explores how easily one can change the appearance.
This collection is a series of jewellery around the face since facial features are the most important parts to the first impression and what most people care about. It explores how simply and easily we can change our appearances with a piece of leather or crystals.
‘Wearing Make-Up’ uses precious gems to create jewelry that is formed to adopt the features of a painted clown, without the humor of a entertainer.
Each piece of the collection partially hides the facial features of the wearer whilst revealing a whole other identity.
