Alongside new furniture works, Fredrikson Stallard also presented Polaris, a temporary installation created to only last the duration of the Momentum exhibition. Made of aluminium sheet trapped inside a block of ice, the sculpture has been slowly melting over the week, and is intended as a tribute to the pair’s debut exhibition, for which their first Ice Table was created.

Blending in with the statues of the V&A’s Paul and Jill Ruddock sculpture gallery, Barnaby Barford’s Tower of Babel is a six metres high composition of 3000 bone china shops façades, each depicting a real London shop photographed by the artist.

Each of Barford’s figures reflects a real shopfront of the city – the base of the installation features derelict shops, while towards the pinnacle the artist placed boutiques and art galleries.
