\u00c1lvaro Siza Vieira is one the most recognizable Portuguese architects of all time. His architectural projects are known globally, this is why Siza Vieira keeps collected some of the most important architectural awards like Golden Lion for the Best Project<\/i>\u00a0 (La Biennale di Venezia -2002), the\u00a0Golden Lion for lifetime achievement<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0(La Biennale di Venezia -2012), the\u00a0Pritzke Architecture Prize (1992) and so many others.<\/p>\n

The Vitra\u2019s factory hall (Weil am Rhein), the\u00a0Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the Boa Nova tea house\u00a0are some of Siza Vieira\u2019s most famous buildings. In fact, the iconic\u00a0Boa Nova tea house building has been recently restored by the architect!<\/p>\n

Initially completed in 1963, the Boa Nova tea house is, undeniably, one of the most recognizable projects of the Portuguese architect. Located in Matosinhos, the home town of Siza Vieira, the building was fully renovated and turned into a restaurant. All of the original characteristics have been preserved.<\/p>\n

As usual with Siza Vieira\u2019s early projects, there\u2019s a wide combination of materials.\u00a0The design includes white-plastered masonry walls, exposed concrete pillars and an abundant use of the red African wood in the cladding of the walls, ceilings and frames. The furniture was also designed by Siza Vieira.<\/p>\n

This clifftop building offers excellent views of the region. It\u2019s a very good location for a luxury restaurant near the sea!<\/p>\n

The Boa Nova Tea house was one of Siza\u2019s earliest projects and was now restored to have a new life!
