Design Week Mexico\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will celebrate creativity and design<\/strong> with a range of\u00a0activities, from exhibitions<\/strong> and temporary installations<\/strong> to interventions and talks, turning the\u00a0capital into an international platform for innovation.\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nSince 2009, Design Week Mexico<\/strong><\/em> has curated and managed a varied program of exhibitions<\/strong>, architecture pavilions<\/strong>, installations<\/strong> and conferences that together aim to empower the city through creativity and design<\/strong> while addressing the urban challenges of the 21st century. Last year, Mexico and Switzerland celebrated their 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Building\u00a0on that relationship, Design Week Mexico<\/strong> <\/em>will host Switzerland as its Guest Country. Meanwhile, the\u00a0East-Central state of Puebla \u2013 known for its rich tradition of handcraft<\/strong> and folk art, such as the\u00a0mayolica<\/strong> style pottery<\/strong>, glass, and indigenous textiles \u2013 will be this edition\u2019s Guest State, enabling\u00a0bilateral collaboration between contemporary designers and traditional craftsmen.\n\n\"\"<\/a>\n

What You Can\u2019t Miss at\u00a0Design Week Mexico<\/strong><\/em>\n<\/h4>\nFor this edition of Design Week Mexico<\/strong><\/em>, the Museo de Arte Moderno<\/strong> is pleased to present 100 Years\u00a0of Swiss Design<\/strong>, a significant exhibition<\/strong> looking at Switzerland\u2019s design legacy and its international\u00a0influence in the field.\n\nInitially mounted in 2014 at the Museum f\u00fcr Gestaltung<\/strong> (Z\u00fcrich), this new\u00a0iteration will explore the shared histories of both countries, for instance with the work of Swiss\u00a0architect Hannes Meyer<\/strong>, who lived in Mexico from 1938 for a decade, after directing the Bauhaus\u00a0School. Mexican designers will be celebrated too, for, instance Uzyel Karp and Mois\u00e9s Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>,\u00a0who both spent time in Switzerland before returning to their native Mexico.\n\nAlongside the fair, Design Week Mexico<\/strong><\/em> has joined forces with a number of institutional and corporate\u00a0leaders such as INADEM, Masisa Lab, ProM\u00e9xico, IMPI, Kickstarter, Idea Couture and Crowdfunded to\u00a0present Design Hub<\/strong>, a talks series around the design industry in Mexico today. And for the companies and\u00a0entrepreneurs wishing to develop their business models, a special business workshop focusing on the\u00a0creative industries will be available too.\n
