Schuybroek was given the chance of reimagining MK House<\/strong>, a\u00a0 12-room house for a fashion creative.\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nA vast deal of time was allocated for the architectural element of the home: re-imaging flows, amplification, associations within areas and most importantly, proposing direct light. the purpose was to build a timeless, warm-minimalist and sophisticated modern house<\/strong><\/em> in harmony with it\u2019s past and the customer\u2019s needs.\n
\u201cThe notion of apparent simplicity became a key design element in this project: it was about reinventing a certain type of minimalism and sophistication where the light, volumes, and proportions would be as important as the refined interior details and materials. The monastic appearance of the modern house<\/strong><\/em> is lifted by the raw textures: the wooden beam ceiling, distressed chevron oak floors, honed marble and a beautifully balanced collection of mid-century furniture pieces.\u201d\u00a0Nicolas Schuybroek<\/strong>\n<\/blockquote>\nMK House<\/strong> has experienced a really dramatic change of craftsmanship<\/strong> and precise lines. Humble whitewashed walls<\/strong> set the backdrop to a reasonable but precious elements palette. Displayed wooden beams<\/strong>, distressed chevron oak floors<\/strong>, and loads of sharpened white marble<\/strong> all cooperate to create an understated touch of opulence.\n

The staircase not only copies the fa\u00e7ade of this theatrical structure but unites each level, all the while acknowledging the memoir this modern house<\/strong> <\/em>has lived over.\n\n\"\"<\/a>\n\nEach area of the modern house<\/strong><\/em> has been superbly matched with a selection of mid-century furniture<\/strong> pieces. In the living room<\/strong>, an oversized arched sofa by furniture designer\u00a0Vladimir Kagan<\/strong> envelopes guests. The obscure webbed lounge chair by rich woodworker, designer and furniture maker\u00a0George Nakashima<\/strong>\u00a0is a stand out item. Other iconic items include the\u00a0Gio Ponti\u00a0<\/strong>dining chairs and striking\u00a0Serge Mouille<\/strong>\u00a0lights.\n
