\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

The \u201cComedian<\/em>\u201d installation by Maurizio Cattelan<\/strong> stole the show at Art Basel Miami 2019<\/strong><\/em>. Composed of a real banana attached to the wall with just one piece of duct tape, \u201cComedian<\/em>\u201d by Maurizio Cattelan<\/strong> for Galerie Perrotin<\/strong> at Art Basel Miami Beach 2019<\/strong><\/em> showcases the artist\u2019s characteristic commentaries \u2014 it\u2019s a hyper-realistic sculpture satirizing popular culture and offering an ironic commentary on society, power, and authority.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

Following the same line of America, an 18-karat gold toilet by Cattelan, this piece offers insight into how we assign worth and what kind of objects we value. The piece sold for $120,000 and was then eaten by performance artist David Datuna<\/strong>, in a performance he called \u201cHungry Artist<\/em>\u201d, creating the most talked-about moment of the event.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Fine Tuning<\/strong> by Claudia Moreira Salles<\/strong> won the Best Curio Booth<\/strong> at Design Miami 2019<\/strong><\/em>! Espasso<\/strong> presents limited-edition lamp collection<\/strong><\/a> called Fine Tuning<\/strong>, combining an exotic reclaimed woods abundant in rich grains and colours \u2013 such as rosewood and pine \u2013 with niobium, a rare metal that transforms chromatically without any added pigments.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Niobium is commonly used in the tech industry, but Salles turns the material into art rather than a scientific matter.<\/p>\n

Right at the entrance of the design event,\u00a0Atelier Marko Brajovic<\/strong>\u2018s Roots installation<\/strong> represents the mangroves of the Amazon. The project was made in partnership with\u00a0Tidelli<\/strong>\u00a0and consists of a self-supporting aluminium branch system wrapped by nautical ropes. Inside, a large rug and two traditional Amazonian hammocks invite visitors to settle in and reflect on our relationship with the environment through the immersive documentary Sacred Coca, which features a sound and visual journey through the Amazon.<\/p>\n

\"Design<\/a><\/p>\n

In celebration of the recent opening of the\u00a0Bottega Veneta<\/strong>\u00a0store in the Miami Design District<\/strong><\/a>, the brand launched a pop-up installation,\u00a0Bottega diner, during\u00a0Miami Art Week 2019<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The place was open for 24 hours and delivered its classic all-American menu complemented with a limited number of Bottega Veneta<\/strong> branded exclusives, such as paper straws, napkins, coffee cups, toothpick flags, and gold matchboxes.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0Todd Merrill<\/strong>\u2018s booth, there was a bold\u00a0Hannes Grebin\u00a0sofa<\/strong> that really demonstrated the\u00a0power of geometric pieces.<\/p>\n

Perfectly embellishing the rest of the setting, there were three\u00a0Bretch Wring Gander\u00a0lamps that gave extraterrestrial vibes in the best way. The\u00a0oversize lamps<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are illuminated by hidden LEDs that cast a mysterious glow.<\/p>\n
