In the early decades of the 20th century, before the modern revolution<\/strong>, L.A. so desperately needed, the\u00a0homes were designed to look inward, with surprisingly dark rooms sheltered from the relentless Southern California sunshine. Take this\u00a0Tudor house built in 1925 in L.A.\u2019s Hancock Park neighbourhood, for example. When Nate Berkus<\/strong><\/em><\/span> and Jeremiah Brent<\/strong> were tasked with redesigning this L.A. home<\/strong>, they had to somehow\u00a0make the house less heavy and ornate, and more appropriate for a modern family\u2014something friendly and warm.\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nTo begin, the top interior designers<\/strong><\/a> had to merge the smaller and discrete rooms the home previously had in favour of more generous and airy spaces for the kitchen design<\/strong> as well as the master bedroom suite<\/strong><\/a>. In addition, they also opened up the entry foyer and mezzanine gallery and installed new doors and windows of iron and glass throughout the home to usher in more natural light\n

\n \"L\u00c2\u00b4Chandelier<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nThe living room<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0outfitted with a mix of pedigreed, centuries-spanning furniture designs<\/strong><\/a> and accessories, perhaps best exemplifies the light and bright spirit of the designers\u2019 intervention. Nate Berkus<\/strong><\/em> and Jeremiah Brent\u00a0<\/strong>recycled the same strategy when tackling the dining room design, where both the wall and floor were previously painted in darker colours, blue and a stained shade of dark brown respectively. After remodelling the floors with a liner tone and\u00a0painting the room white, Nate Berkus<\/strong><\/em> and Brent installed a set of classic Mario Bellini<\/strong> Cab chairs around the clients\u2019 existing dining table<\/strong><\/a> beneath a graphic grid of overhead lights.\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nIf there is one single word that can describe this home design<\/strong><\/a> it\u2019s truly: Happy. <\/em>Both interior designers<\/strong> agree that this luxury home<\/strong><\/a> really needed and benefited from an uplifting of the spirits\u2019. From the young daughters\u2019 fairytale pink bedroom design<\/strong> to the sunkissed breakfast room that now\u00a0opens to a new kitchen design<\/strong> centred on a 17th-century limestone mantel cleverly converted into a hood for the stove.\n\n\u201cWe really fell in love with these clients. They were the kindest, most engaged people we\u2019ve had the pleasure to work with, so we wanted to give them a home that truly reflects the beauty of their family,\u201d Brent concludes of the project\n
