Much lauded as the greatest design show on earth, Salone del Mobile<\/a><\/strong>, which for 2021, flies under the banner of Supersalone<\/span><\/em><\/strong>, opens its doors for one highly anticipated week this September. Supersalone<\/span><\/em><\/strong> is the first time many designers and luxury brands<\/a><\/strong> have been able to present new products in real life in well over a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom Dixon<\/strong> and his team are planning a grand tour that will see the designer bounce across eight European cities to present his latest designs. Making its first stop in Milan during Supersalone 2021<\/em><\/strong>, Dixon\u2019s presentation focuses on the theme of light, with a showcase titled \u2018Luminosity\u2019 exploring \u2018how optics and light can improve your space<\/em>\u2019. Cristina Celestino<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s new work for Billiani includes her first textile for the Italian chairmaker called Timent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Herm\u00e8s<\/strong>\u2019s latest collection explores texture with bold, organic furniture by Studio Mumbai, enamelled copper centrepieces and a playful tea service titled Hippomobile. Italian artist Gianpaolo Pagni took inspiration from the patterns of jockey silks and equine engravings in the \u00c9mile Herm\u00e8s collection for these mix-and-match designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lighting designers Cristiana Giopato and Christopher Coombes are always a highlight on the Milan circuit. For 2021, the pair explore the outer reaches of sculptural illumination with Fragments of Infinity, an installation of new work inspired by space and the balance between light and matter\u2014as cleverly articulated in the Milky Way floor-to-ceiling column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moroso has collaborated with French-Lebanese architect Annabel Karim Kassar to produce a series of side tables and a modular seating system. The collection, titled Salon Nan\u00e0 is inspired by Morocco where Kassar lived for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

London-based Bethan Laura Wood\u2019s solo show for Nilufar Gallery, titled Ornate celebrates a decade of dialogue between Wood and leading Milanese gallerist, Nina Yashar. New works based on the theme of the boudoir span lighting, cabinets, mirrors, a desk and a bedhead aim to blur the boundaries between 2D decoration and 3D form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New to the Gucci D\u00e9cor 2021 collection, which champions all things made in Italy, is coloured porcelain tableware created in partnership with the renowned Florentine company, Ginori 1735. The collection also features new cutlery, candles, wallpaper, soft furnishings\u2014cushions, blankets and quilts\u2014and furniture. A pop-up store in Milan during Salone opened the past September 5. Located in a traditional stationery store it celebrates the launch of a new Gucci Lifestyle collection featuring backgammon boards, drawing sets and pyjamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Armani\u2019s limited-edition handcrafted Royal bar cabinet showcases subtle Japanese sensibility. A tatami-inspired woven exterior encapsulates back-lit golden panelling inside, embellished with a shimmering marble-like motif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York-based designer Stephen Burks has collaborated with Salvatori on a collection of sculptural mirrors in natural stone titled Friends and Neighbours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
