Her vast experience<\/strong> as an interior designer<\/em><\/strong> for over 20 years working side by side with her mother<\/strong> accords her the privilege to stand out in the design sector<\/strong> in Mexico City<\/em><\/strong> and internationally. Her portfolio entails a wide range of awe-inspiring interior and architectural designs on storytellers<\/strong>, fairy tale \u2013 private label (ambassadors), renovations and high-end \u2018handy manny\u2019<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years the interior designer<\/em><\/strong>, Lily Duclaud<\/em><\/strong> has developed her own style <\/strong>which is defined as elegant, subtle and original<\/strong>, combining the principles of simplicity with the taste and the sumptuous textures<\/strong>, always looking for new challenges<\/strong>. When asked about what part of her work excited her the most, she immediately replied:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t work, I just have fun and doing fun stuff has brought me here. \u201cI\u2019m in Love with what I\u2019ve done since I was very young and I have been doing this for years. This is my life, it\u2019s what I am good at and I really enjoy designing all kinds of projects and meeting different people all over. My mother showed me this. It was her gift to me. Being a designer is on her side of my story<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\nLily Duclaud<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

For the interior designer<\/em><\/strong>, every project is completely different and authentic <\/strong>and that\u2019s what makes her work amazing. New projects are new beginnings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m in love with everything I do but I\u2019ll definitely think kids rooms are my passion. Ever since I remember, Working as a kid with Kids brought my creative juices alive and it has given me the opportunity to grow in different ways too.\u00a0 I think I will always be a kid.\u00a0 I hope so.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nLily Duclaud<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Although an enthusiastic <\/strong>and playful person<\/strong>, the<\/em> interior designer <\/em><\/strong>described that the most challenging time in her career has been digital media.<\/strong> She considered herself an old-school interior designer<\/strong>, who\u2019s used to sketch by hand. \u201cI love eye contact, Vibes. It\u2019s been difficult to understand and feel people through Zoom or chat. Feeling the light of a Living room through a computer camera or a couple of hours of sitting down understanding textures and colours without even understanding the concept.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Boca<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Pandemia changed our lives in every single way but for the interior designer<\/em><\/strong>, the challenging days turn out to be an incredible opportunity.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe decided to bring our knowledge, experience and happy thoughts to everyone in the world. That was a great challenge I\u2019d never thought about. Gladly we\u2019ve developed projects in Asia, Europe and places we\u2019ve never thought about before as a Mexican designer. It\u2019s been great so far. Masterclasses have been amazing connecting with people at home and bringing them also the opportunity to grow their own business as well.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nLily Duclaud<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Incredibly ambitious <\/strong>and always with her eyes locked in the future<\/strong>, the interior designer<\/strong> expressed that\u2019s she\u2019s far from achieving everything in her life. \u201cEvery year I do challenge myself, that\u2019s for sure. I\u2019ve achieved every yearly goal but I keep looking forward like Walt Disney used to say. Every day is a challenge, an opportunity to be a better person in every way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Boca<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Her inner child allows her to not only thrive for more in her life but to connect to children, turning into one of her biggest dreams: \u201cI want to be more in contact with Kids. Our world is crazier than ever and since they are the future we have to start designing better creative spaces for them, Less war, more love and fun but in a family approach.\u201d<\/em> Lily said. She\u2019s developing \u201cOnce upon a time in a box\u201d<\/em>. It\u2019s a wonderful project where Moms will be able to design their own rooms with her studios\u2019 help. \u201cI\u2019m super excited about it!\u00a0 I would love to see my boxes all around the world.\u201d<\/em> A huge project coming up, where her partner and Lily are having the best time ever making it come true.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKids have to feel their space as comfortable and huggable, personalized and content,\u00a0their own shelter. That\u2019s home. We need to go back to back to basics. That\u2019s my priority. Kids!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lily\u2019s <\/em><\/strong>love for personal <\/strong>and deep connections<\/strong> is one of the most fulfilling parts of her work<\/strong>, where being in contact with her audience and clients is essential to her fabulous work. \u201cWe live from our audience. I personally answer all their questions and stay in touch. I have clients that have been with me for more than 20 years. I have watched kids grow, change nationalities and have kids again and they all still contact me. It\u2019s amazing. Social media nowadays has given us unimaginable opportunities to stay in touch. I love being part of their lives like a paediatrician, Always available 24\/7.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duclaud\u2019s<\/em><\/strong> client type is the type of client <\/strong>that knows how and what they\u2019re looking for in a project and in her<\/strong>. As stated previously, her deep connections with her clients allow her not only to correspond to her client\u2019s demands<\/strong> but also to anticipate and complement their wishes<\/strong>, and that\u2019s something they also look forward to when working with Lily. \u201cThey are rockstars and I\u2019m the one developing a great stage for them since it\u2019s their Theater, they are the characters of the movie, not me. They are all Stars. Shining ones.\u201d<\/em> she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finalize, CovetED<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>asked about Craftsmanship<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong> <\/a>and who\u2019s leading the way, and Lily <\/em><\/strong>got a bit more personal: \u201cIn my Home town, Mexico City, I really Honor a very well known Mexican Artist. Alfonso Marina Has shown us Internationally the right way to do with extreme perfection as an artist devoted to handcrafting fine wood furniture. His goal has always been to offer the highest quality possible to discerning consumers. I\u2019m so proud of him.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Boca<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the future, she says that we as a society need to reevaluate the concept of social spaces<\/strong> since the past year\u2019s events and social distancing gave us the opportunity to evaluate our priorities. \u201cFor Us, social distance gave us the opportunity to re-evaluate what\u2019s important: Family and friendship. We as interior designers need to focus on bringing families together again. Giving them spaces to coexist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
