FAIRMONT CENTURY PLAZA
The best part of the quarantine was the time it gave us and what we decided to do with it, and this design hotel did take the best out of it! Lala Land’s famous Fairmont Century Plaza has spent about $2.5 billion on a makeover and has already open doors.
The new space, located in a former 1950s movie studio, is the hotel equivalent of pure luxury. Although the original midcentury-modern structure from the architect Minoru Yamasaki remains. Right now, the refurbished Fairmont Century Plaza is almost unrecognizable inside – in the best possible way!
PENDRY HOTEL
Recently, Pendry added a new property to its luxurious portfolio, Pendry Hotel in West Hollywood – the first in Los Angeles. Designed by the giant Martin Brudnizki, this design hotel features 149 stylish guest rooms inspired by ocean waves and dusky skies, and 40 residences with exhilarating views of the Hollywood Hills.

For Brudnizki, the sense of style of West Hollywood is about comfort and glamour and both should mix seamlessly. For that reason, the interiors needed to feel soft and tactile while being a little decadent. To contrast the soft lines, Martin‘s used some geometric elements in the wall coverings, upholstery, and flooring to give the interiors a sense of energy and dynamism.
DOWNTOWN L.A. PROPER
Definitely one of the best design hotels you will stay in this summer! Downtown L.A. Proper is the most recent Proper Hotel, also designed by the queen Kelly Wearstler – one more to add to her stunning portfolio.
In a completely redesigned 1920s California Renaissance Revival building, the space exceeds expectations: Kelly Wearstler has dressed the walls in a muted, jewel-toned palette of seafoam green, rich lavender, and matte copper, opting for complementary pieces in earthy tones and soft textures. A globetrotter, Kelly finds influences everywhere from Mexico to France to Morocco, with hints of classic modernism and elements of the 1920s.

CitizenM
Welcome, high-tech lovers! This one is for you – and for all the design lovers out there, of course. After being in cities like Paris, Copenhagen and Taipei, it’s time for Los Angeles to receive CitizenM, more specifically in downtown.
With an ultra-modern design – faithful to a high-tech style – the idea behind the cutting-edge brand is to offer a refined experience at its finest, but without the price tag that usually comes with it.
The 315 rooms, designed by the brand’s longtime design partner Concrete, are stacked above a colorful lobby that invites guests to linger, eat and drink. In other words: If CitizenM were a high school, the cool kids would hang out in the ultra-modern lobby.
CARA
Located on the foothills of Griffith Park there’s Cara, a design hotel that immediately takes us to a tranquil 60-room spa.
Decked out in bright white, hand-woven rattan and glossy greenery, the former 1950s motel is a unique nod to California living as we’ve never seen it before. In addition, Cara Hotel is full of natural light and organic elements, including light oak and cream-colored limestone.
The cherry on the cake? An open-air courtyard with a reflecting pool, a cozy seating area, and 100-year-old olive trees.
