New York is no stranger to luxury hotels. The city is overflowing with high-end hospitality projects which feed a luxury lifestyle that only the Big Apple can provide. In the fuss and commotion of New York City, a sanctuary is born. An urban oasis in the very heart of Manhattan: Aman New York, a luxury hotel and a sophisticated sanctuary which will open its doors this spring. With an originally scheduled debut for 2020, which was eventually delayed because of the global pandemic, the luxury hotel has the iconic Crown Building as its home.
Overlooking Central Park, Aman New York has what all luxury hotels should have. This urban oasis is made of 83 hotel rooms, several restaurants, a French Wine Library, a 7000 square feet of outdoor dining space and a swimming pool terrace. The luxury hotel also provides a private members Club, a three-floor Spa, a Cigar Lounge, and a subterranean Jazz Bar. Aman New York is what dreams are made of!
The luxury hotel will bring new life to the landmark building during its 100th anniversary, paying homage to its striking architecture and significant history, but there is more. The Aman Group chose nonother than New York City and the Crown Building to have their first urban residences.
Aman New York will house 22 private branded residences, including one five-story penthouse. Unmatched luxury! These fully serviced homes with private entrances, will range from one to six bedrooms, with grand fireplaces, select outdoor terraces and heated pools.
Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston, a firm which has collaborated on numerous Aman projects, was behind the design of the luxury hotel and residences. The renowned architect envisioned a project which would pay homage to the Crown Building’s grand architecture but, in the spirit of Aman and its Asian DNA, the iconic landmark would also be revigorated.
The rooms, suites, and residences are true sanctuaries. Also designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, the spaces have the perfect balance between neutral tones and a strong color palette, providing an earthy feeling to the interiors. The furniture and furnishings complement that earthiness beautifully, as well as the use of wood and layered materials. A home or a hotel room that is meant to be a calming and soothing refuge in the busy New York City.
The New York luxury hotel and residences are the latest newcomer for Aman, which has also announced a wellness-focused brand, Janu, with hotels planned in Japan, Montenegro, and Saudi Arabia. The group has been evolving rapidly over the past few years and the global pandemic did not slow them down. The Aman New York will harbor the company’s first luxury urban residences and we cannot wait to see what they will do next!
