The emblematic Design Miami/ & Art Basel Miami 2018 have ended and this year editions were an incredible opportunity to explore the best of contemporary art and collectible design, let’s review the highlights of this exciting week for the art world.

The Art duo the Haas Brothers‘ first retrospective exhibition has opened at The Bass Museum in Miami Beach, filled with their “fantasy reality of flora and fauna” in a spectrum of hues. Twins Nikolai and Simon Haas have taken over two rooms on the ground floor of the recently renovated Bass Museum of Art, showcasing a progression of their furniture and sculpture – from early works to pieces created specifically for the show.
Brazilian designers Humberto and Fernando Campana have designed limited-edition versions of their signature soft-toy seats using designs by American artist Kaws.
They revealed at Design Miami fair by New York gallery Friedman Benda, the Kaws x Campana collaboration includes two armchairs and a sofa with seats and backs made from soft toys.
Louis Vuitton expanded its “objets nomades” collection with three new pieces: atelier Biagetti’s anemona table, atelier oï’s serpentine table, and Tokujin Yoshioka’s blossom vase. presented alongside a selection of existing objects during design Miami/ 2018, the three new creations have joined pieces by international designers including the Campana Brothers, Barber & Osgerby, India Mahdavi, Patricia Urquiola, and André Fu.
“This Is Not America” a spectacular assembly of performance and public art is free at Faena Hotel to the public by Derrick Adam.
Claudia Wieser was one of the most relevant artists in the Sies + Höke’s showcase with her colorful and minimalist Untitled art pieces created in 2018. Her sculptures are perfect examples of how art and design can be merged together to create something beautiful and functional at the same time.
In the same booth, we also can’t ignore the realistic bronze sculpture of a cat by João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva.
The designer Misha Kah presented a playful signature style has manifested as a collection of items for use around the pool at the Miami Beach Edition hotel.
Contrasting with Claire’s artworks we have Barbara Chase-Riboud evoking wealth and luxury with her exclusive design.
The playful sculpture by Daniel Arsham from Perrotin, tearing apart the well-known “The End” message that appears in several movies and TV shows gave us a reason to smile.
