About Design 2000 International S.P.A
Sandro spotted a business opportunity in these incidental queries. Under his direction, the furniture shop evolved into a creative workshop where architects and designers could work together to fulfill a client’s vision. It was at this time that Sandro began to venture into the Arabian market, a completely unexplored territory, with very little of the necessary infrastructure for a design-and-build company.

Over the years the network has grown deeper and wider. Design 2000 has completed projects all over the world, in countries including Bahrain, China, France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela.
In some of these countries, they have offices that help make the process smoother for them and for clients who need a design consultant in those places. Their list of collaborators includes some of the world’s finest and best-known architects, engineers, and designers. They can call on the expertise and aesthetic insight of true arbiters of modern, classical, contemporary and eclectic Italian style.

Classic Project: Private Residence in Paris
The original structure of the palace is from the 1800s; our brief here was to undertake a conservative restoration in the French style of the 1800s, yet equipping the spaces with sophisticated technological devices to guarantee the client maximum comfort.
The restoration of the main stairway was a challenge as it was entirely made of wood, and we consolidated the material without altering its visual aesthetic. The same process was necessary on the original doors of the sitting area and the precious wood paneling lining the study. To carry out the operation we used specialist Italian and French artisans.

The selection of custom furnishings, hand-tufted carpets, custom-made chandeliers, and the colors of the finishes and fabrics was performed by Alberto Pinto under Design 2000’s coordination and supervision. Another delicate task was the construction of the underground spa, set beneath an existing courtyard, originally used to park up to 800 carriages. This exotic setting, which breaks away from the style of the residence while maintaining its chromatic theme, is in Oriental style, and in keeping with this, we used skilled craftsmen and engravers from Bali.

This same “language” continues through to the two reception rooms: the principal Majilis and the principal dining room. In these spaces, of particular note are the expertly crafted valances, embroidered by hand with silver thread, and the Venetian fabrics. Comfortable seating embellished with mother-of-pearl and silver inlays, adorns the dining area, along with upholstery wallpaper by Cristian Lacroix, also detailed in silver.
Central to the vialla is its impressive’ staircases, which play with split levels.
