The Australian interior design studio, Fiona Lynch transform a narrow Victorian terrace into a contemporary and calming oasis. The interior designer option of modern colors, playful textures, refined materials and a perfect selection of modern furniture pieces create a warm and stylish living place.
“The brief given by our client for this Victorian Terrace was to create a space in which they could relax but also entertain guests. When replanning their dining and formal living areas, we played with textures to create an engaging space suitable for various uses.”
A substantial work was given to assuring the rooms were welcoming and bright. “It was important to give a different take on how space felt previously,” says Fiona. “We have worked with this client for a number of years. The plan for this space was designed a number of years ago, and sometimes it can be nice to take the time to review and decide whether the plans were the right solution.”
The preexisting timber floors were varnished, and the walls were painted in a light shade that transforms this home into a blank canvas, where the designer layered with a sophisticated color scheme. “We played with a soft palette of pinks and greens and different textures such as the tweed-like weave of the sofa and rug”.
“The modern living area provides open shelves made from painted oak with a bronze sheet to the internal surfaces which sit firmly on marble boxes. The dining room joinery uses bi-fold doors with a beautiful circular solid oak handle detail and again sits on stone plinths to compliment the new stone fireplaces.”
One of the most interesting design elements in this project are the bespoke pieces sit either side of the fireplace in each room. The final result is a space that reveals the client’s personality complemented with an eclectic art collection.
