Constantly featured in most of the top designer lists, Gert Voorjans is unlike any other interior designer out there, as he breaks every interior design rule to create his explosive interiors, mixing colors, elements, eras and stories in a way that at first can seem overwhelming, but when the dust settles his genius can be fully appreciated as everything finds a way to work with everything else, as unusual as that may seem.
At first glance, his designs make it seem like a hoarder’s paradise, but somehow Gert is able to make a thousand different elements work. There are statues, table lamps, sculptures, furniture, books. This is the house of someone who has lived and traveled, whose house serves as a storage place for all the gathered relics.
He’s able to mixture contemporary art with classical murals, old oriental chairs with modern chevron patterned pillows, antique European murals with an Aztec Influenced center table, Chinese vases with kitsch paintings, colorful armchairs with equally colorful carpets. There are no rules, as long as it looks good.
On these two last images, we can see a more toned down version of Gert Voorjan’s designs. There is more restraint here, compared to the previous displays.
Take a look at this bathroom, a bathroom for the bold in bright pinks, reds, purples, and a pinch of gold. Would you risk the water splattering all over those books and antiques?
Let’s end with a gorgeous turquoise indoor pool.
