It was created for the London Edition Hotel, concept and interior architecture by Ian Schrager.
Ingo Maurer state of wonderment that has led him to be recognized as one of the visionaries in the world of contemporary luxury lighting. Trained as graphic designer, in 1965 Maurer looked up and fell in love with a light bulb. A year later he created and manufactured his first lamp, the Bulb. Four years later that fixture was in the permanent collection of MoMA. Maurer legacy started.
Maurer is fascinated by light and all the different ways it can be created, captured and otherwise manipulated. He doesn’t concern himself with trends or fashions. The design has an unique imagination that informs his design aesthetic. The London Edition Hotel and its lamps show how unique and wonderful Maurer´s lamps are.

The hotel’s multi-functional lobby maintains an old appearance through a restored stucco ceiling, while combining contemporary touches like this giant dome-shaped silver sphere.
The hotel also boasts an intimate bar in back of the reception serving a daily punch for those who wish to retire to a more tranquil scene, enjoying this luxurious environment.
