Contemporary interior design can often be boring, the same pastels, the same cream tones, the same everything. In a field where most people go with industry trends, it’s great to have some outsiders, someone you can trust their modern interiors to be quirky, colorful and a lot of fun, and there’s where Doug Meyer comes into action. Doug Meyer is a designer and artist started his art career early, having created an art studio in his parent’s basement. After graduating he worked with Holly Solomon as an art dealer, with whom he learned that interiors could be works of art too. He’s known for giving his interiors an artistic flair while keeping the designs accessible and, above all, livable. On the second edition of modern interiors, we’ll be looking at one of Doug Meyers’s projects in Miami. Enjoy!
A flawless modern interior where cactuses and a fireplace live side by side. Well, you could call it either a wood depository or a fireplace, your take. The rug is beautiful in brown, green and yellow and the mid-century seating is spot on.
This dining room design is memorable. The cactuses and the chairs could be confused with each other, and there’s this gorgeous blue painting reminding Modigliani giving even more cheerfulness to the whole interior.
This is what I would dare to say is the children’s playground, but wouldn’t bet on that, as it could just be a place for your inner child. Modern interiors don’t get more playful than this.
A detail of the credenza and the stunning artwork over it, in a reference to post-its.
The bedrooms are colorful and full of life, with thousands upon thousands of gorgeous details. A mixture of lettuce green, electric blue
Let’s end this business outside, like we’d do if we were in Miami, where the table is set with fruit and yogurt. What else.
