\nWe selected the best 20 list of best of design collaborations, art installations, galleries exhibitions<\/strong> during the thrilling and eventful week in Milan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Open Sky by COS and Phillip K Smith III<\/strong>\n<\/div>\n

\"Milan<\/a><\/p>\n

COS\u00a0is working alongside American artist Phillip K Smith III to create a large-scale outdoor installation that was installed at the 16th century Palazzo Isimbardi. Set in the courtyard, the structure will be made up a series of reflective works that are intended to \u201cpull the sky to the ground\u201d, offering visitors a serene place to relax.<\/p>\n

The Diner by David Rockwell<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a><\/p>\n

New York architect\u00a0David Rockwell\u00a0collaborated with Surface magazine to create The Diner, space where American design will be celebrated in a setting based on an \u201carchetypal roadside restaurant\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dimore Studio<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a><\/p>\n

Dimore Studio\u00a0is curating three separate events for Fuorisaloni<\/strong>. The first, Dimore Gallery, presented an installation of iconic 20th-century design. Also here, the studio showcased its latest pieces from the collections Progetto Non Finito and Oggetti collections. Lastly, an installation named Limited Edition, six shop front windows filled with items from the late 1800s and early 1900s<\/p>\n

Fondazione Prada by OMA<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0OMA-designed\u00a0Fondazione Prada\u00a0was one of the most visited spots in Milan last week, as it unveiled a new nine-story tower filled with modern art<\/strong> and contemporary\u00a0design<\/strong>. Highlights include the Upside-Down Mushroom Room by\u00a0Belgian artist\u00a0Carsten H\u00f6ller, which featured giant red and white rotating mushrooms sprouting from the ceiling.<\/p>\n

Altered States by Snarkitecture and Caesarston<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>New York studio\u00a0Snarkitecture\u00a0teamed up with quartz manufacturer\u00a0Caesarstone\u00a0to create this installation exploring the changing forms of water. The installation presented materials in the forms of river, glacier, ice, liquid, and steam.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Hay x Sonos x WeWork<\/strong><\/p>\n

Milan\u2019s Palazzo Clerici created a dramatic backdrop for an exhibition by Danish design brand\u00a0Hay,\u00a0co-working\u00a0and office company\u00a0WeWork, and sound specialist\u00a0Sonos. The contemporary furniture, set against the historic building\u2019s ornate interiors, was very popular.<\/p>\n

Breath\/Ing sculpture by Kengo Kuma<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kengo Kuma\u00a0presents a giant spiraling air-purifying sculpture with the capability to absorb the emissions of 90,000 cars per year.\u00a0Titled \u201cbreath\/ing\u201d, comprises 120 hand-folded panels and is a towering 6 meters tall.<\/p>\n

Foscarini x James Wines<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe light bulb series\u201d designed in collaboration between\u00a0Foscarini\u00a0and James wines\/site, is the center piece of the installation \u201creverse room\u201d. An reversed and angled \u201dblack box\u201d that disturbs spatial perception and experiments our reactions to the setting .<\/p>\n

Herm\u00e8s<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s concept for Milan Design Week, it\u2019s from Charlotte Macaux Perelman, deputy artistic director of the French luxury brand, was a dazzling color-blocked environment at the Museo della Permanente. Create a sense intimacy to a new collection of furniture, tabletop, and textiles, with structures within the museum that were clad in 150,000 colorful zellige tiles from Morocco.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Objets Nomades by Louis Vuitton<\/strong><\/p>\n

Designers including\u00a0Patricia Urquiola<\/strong>,\u00a0Marcel Wanders<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Fernando Campana<\/strong> joined forces to present\u00a0Louis Vuitton\u2019s Objets Nomades\u00a0homeware collection at Milan design week. A ceiling covered in thousands of red and pink Atelier O\u00ef origami flowers was the most photographed set .<\/p>\n

Swarovski Palazzo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a pop-up Daniel\u2019s Caf\u00e9 serves up Viennese pastries that visitors can nibble on while they browse.<\/p>\n

Design duo\u00a0Studio Job\u00a0revitalize Milan\u2019s historic garage Traversi with a pop art love letter to the city.\u00a0Painted on the rationalist facade of this landmark building in the Montenapoleone district,\u00a0\u201coh oh, Milano..I love you too\u2026\u201d\u00a0brings together the bold and imaginative visual themes studio job has become widely known for.<\/p>\n

Fifth Ring by MAD<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cFifth Ring\u201d is a circular ring set inside a square courtyard, the installation demonstrates mankind\u2019s continued search for perfection and the illuminated circle frames the sky, acting as a \u201cportal to a fifth dimension\u201d in a move which seeks to open up a dialogue between the observer and the infinite universe.<\/p>\n

MVRDV and Bulgari<\/strong><\/p>\n

MVRDV\u00a0collaborates with Bulgari to design an art installation inspired on three elements of design \u2013 materials, modularity and color.\u00a0The immersive\u00a0space made up of crafted scales invites visitors into the craft of\u00a0jewelry\u00a0making.<\/p>\n

Bar Anne by\u00a0Space Encounter<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a>The group of Dutch designers is transforming\u00a0the historical Museo Diocesano into\u00a0Bar Anne, which they describe as \u201ca\u00a0bar\u00a0and show combined into one full experience and fun happening\u201d<\/p>\n

Blowing in the Wind by Missoni x\u00a0Rachel Hayes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Missoni\u00a0presents\u00a0Blowing in the Wind,\u00a0an environmental art project in Milan, Italy by American artist\u00a0Rachel Hayes.\u201dA modular, multi-colored textile brought to life by the wind as though it were a parachute or fluttering flag; a gigantic patchwork that spectacularly plays on and amplifies the effects of light and air\u201d.<\/p>\n

Observatory by Lee Broom<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a>British furniture designer<\/strong> Lee Broom returns with another new series of fascinating lighting pieces. Titled \u201cObservatory\u201d, the curved, ethereal lights are the first of a three-phase launch that will continue throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Peter Pichler\u2019s futuristic installation<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Milan<\/a><\/p>\n

Peter Pichler architecture\u00a0explored the potential of wood with a cave-like\u00a0installation. The art space pavilion is symmetrical, 1a 2-ton structure made of more than 1600 wood sticks that invite visitors in a playful experience of light and shadow.<\/p>\n

Forms of Movement by Nendo<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Nendo, the Japanese design studio, explores the idea of movement with a series of designs and sketches in a 800sqm space in Via Tortona. The exhibition is part of design fair Superdesign Show run by media company Superstudio Group.<\/p>\n

Tram Corallo by Cristina Celestino<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Cristina Celestino\u00a0transforms a 1928 tram\u00a0traveling through the Brera Design District into a \u201c\u2018travelling salon\u201d \u00a0in collaboration with high-end textiles company\u00a0Rubelli. An extraordinary project and piece of tailor-made artisan craftsmanship.<\/p>\n
