The City of Angels has always sparked millions of people\u2019s imaginations. It has seen by many as the zenith of lifestyle, the place to be, and to live. Home of Hollywood and most of our favorite films, Los Angeles has slowly turned itself into a\u00a0cultural hotspot<\/strong>\u00a0around the globe. So it would only be natural if some of the\u00a0top interior designers<\/span><\/em> <\/a><\/strong>lived and practiced there. And now it\u2019s time to meet some of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Amy Sklar<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While Sklar<\/strong>\u00a0no longer is performing comedy sets \u2014 she leaves that to her husband, Randy, one half of the Sklar Brothers \u2014 she still has an off-kilter sensibility that endears\u00a0Amy\u00a0Sklar Design<\/strong>\u00a0to a growing roster of funny men and women that includes Patton Oswalt and Rob Corddry. \u201cWe take our job seriously but gag around a lot,\u201d says Sklar, who then deadpans, \u201cIt\u2019s better that way. Trust me.\u201d Alongside architect Barbara Bestor,\u00a0Sklar\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>working on a house for\u00a0Almost Family\u00a0<\/em>writer-producer Annie Weisman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Atelier AM<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Shy by\u00a0nature,\u00a0Michael and Alexandra Misczynski<\/strong>, founders of\u00a0Atelier AM<\/strong>, keep a notoriously low profile. This is quite a feat when you have clients like Tom Cruise and collaborate with consummate modern architects like Richard Meier. The husband-and-wife duo met in Manhattan while working on different projects for the same client. Relocating to Michael\u2019s hometown of Los Angeles, they founded the\u00a0preeminent firm Atelier AM.<\/strong>\u00a0The power couple is known as the choice designers for art connoisseurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Brigette Romanek<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As glamorous as her clientele \u2014 Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonc\u00e9, and Jay-Z, Joe Jonas, Kelly Rowland,\u00a0The AllBright social club \u2014\u00a0Brigette Romanek<\/strong>\u00a0launched her\u00a0Romanek Design Studio<\/strong>\u00a0from the Laurel Canyon home she shares with her director husband, Mark Romanek. The hillside home, once owned by Rick Rubin and possibly haunted, required an overhaul by the ex-handbag designer (her Rockstar purse was carried by Kate Moss, two Kardashians, and Eva Mendes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Cliff Fong<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Cliff Fong<\/strong>\u00a0was born in New York and has had a diverse upbringing, living in many countries around the world. He has been a part of Los Angeles\u2019 fertile design community for two decades as an\u00a0interior designer<\/strong>, fashion designer, and entrepreneur. As an interior designer,\u00a0Cliff\u00a0<\/strong>creates unique, personal, and often unexpected environments, drawing from various inspirations. His work is largely residential but also includes notable commercial spaces such as Michael Voltaggio\u2019s Ink restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Disc Interiors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Restrained and understated,\u00a0David John Dick and Krista Schrock<\/strong>\u00a0layer the colors of the California desert into livable spaces like the Silver Lake home Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis just picked up for $3.5 million. \u201cSo many rooms are beautiful in photos, but they\u2019re not rooms you want to live in,\u201d says\u00a0Dick. Adds Schrock<\/strong>, \u201c\u2018Warm\u2019 and \u2018calm\u2019 are words we hear a lot from our clients,\u201d including Innerscope Records head of A&R Sam Riback, director and screenwriter Leigh Janiak, producer Greg Jacobs and\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u2018s former co-head writer Chris Kelly, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n

6. Jake Arnold<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jake Arnold<\/strong>\u00a0landed in Los Angeles six years ago under the wing of glamorous interior duo Woodson & Rummerfield, then joined up with Steve Wunderlich of 4C Design Group. While the\u00a0British designer\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0moody monochrome interiors have pushed him past 39,000 followers on Instagram,\u00a0Arnold\u00a0<\/strong>is more interested in the atmosphere over strict aesthetics. At the end of the day, it\u2019s all about how you feel in a space,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Jamie Bush<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A\u00a0New Yorker<\/strong>\u00a0who grew up in a family of notable designers and artists,\u00a0Jamie\u00a0<\/strong>studied architecture and design in New Orleans and Italy. After receiving his Masters in Architecture from Tulane University,\u00a0Jamie\u00a0<\/strong>relocated to L.A. and opened his own interior design firm in 2002. Featured in such major publications as\u00a0Architectural Digest<\/em>,\u00a0Dwell<\/em>, and the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/em>,\u00a0Jamie\u00a0<\/strong>is highly regarded for his keen understanding of architecture and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Jeff Andrews<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The designer for the famous Kardashian family,\u00a0Jeff Andrew\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0talent is seen by millions who watch their reality television productions. A highly coveted decorator, his expanding list of diverse celebrity clients also includes Ryan Seacrest and Michael C. Hall. The\u00a0native Southern Californian\u2019s magical interiors<\/strong>\u00a0push creative boundaries, but remain true to traditional design aesthetics. Originally a choreographer, it should be no surprise that Jeff has a well-balanced approach to decorating and an eye for beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Jeffrey Alan Marks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another famous face from\u00a0Bravo\u2019s\u00a0Million Dollar Decorators<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Jeffrey\u00a0<\/strong>has been a trendsetter in the design world for over twenty years. In addition to Malibu beach houses and London homes, the\u00a0internationally acclaimed designer<\/strong>\u00a0has created iconic commercial interiors, including The Hungry Cat in Santa Monica. He is currently at work on an exclusive fabric line for luxury brand Kravet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Kathleen and Tommy Clements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0mother-and-son team<\/strong>\u00a0have impressed clients like Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux with their pared-down but richly layered aesthetic. Tommy joined his mother\u2019s firm, Kathleen\u00a0Clements Design,<\/strong>\u00a0in 2006 and has since flourished as a\u00a0designer<\/strong>. The talented duo is keeping it diverse this year, with projects as varied as a mid-century modern to the renovation of a 1930\u2019s Georgian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11. Kelly Wearstler\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since its establishment in 1994,\u00a0Kelly Wearstler\u2019s interior design company<\/strong>\u00a0has blossomed to include clothing, jewelry, and home collections. Described as a \u201cbranding virtuoso\u201d by\u00a0Architectural Digest<\/em>,\u00a0her vibrant interiors and lifestyle boutique<\/strong>\u00a0make her a leading name in modern American design. The multi-talented author and fashionista have been featured both on the\u00a0Los Angeles Times<\/em>\u2018 bestseller list and\u00a0Vogue<\/em>\u2018s Best Dressed list. Her famous clients include the ever so stylish Gwen Stefani and Cameron Diaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12. Kim Gordon<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A mixed-media artisan and longtime resident of Venice Beach,\u00a0Kim Gordon<\/strong>\u00a0showcases steel-framed floor-to-ceiling windows, hand-troweled walls, and open floor plans that transform sand shacks into buoyant indoor-outdoor abodes. Says\u00a0Gordon<\/strong>, who has worked with\u00a0long-established interior designers<\/strong>\u00a0Madeline Stuart and Kerry Joyce, \u201cA lot of my aesthetic came from my wondering\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13. Martyn Lawrence Bullard<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Martyn\u00a0<\/strong>is a household name in America and the UK, thanks primarily to his television shows\u00a0Million Dollar Decorators<\/em>\u00a0(on Bravo TV) and\u00a0Hollywood Me<\/em>. Not surprisingly, the\u00a0British-born designer<\/strong>\u00a0moved to Hollywood 20 years ago to become an actor. His role in an Ed Wood film landed him the job of decorating the offices of Wood\u2019s production company. These days, he has furniture, fabric, and fragrance lines. Fashion and jewelry product lines are in the works. His commitment has earned him the respect of such notable client\u00e8le as Tommy Hilfiger, Elton John, and Cher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14. Michael S. Smith<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Honored by all the top shelter publications, including\u00a0Architectural Design<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Elle D\u00e9cor<\/em>, this\u00a0A-lister<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the top talents in the design industry. Not to mention that\u00a0Barack & Michelle Obama chose him to decorate the White House<\/strong>\u00a0and makeover the Oval Office. His early days included studies at the Otis College of Art and Design and abroad, as well as a partnership with designer John Saladino in\u00a0New York.<\/strong>\u00a0The Californian returned to his roots to establish\u00a0Michael S Smith, Inc<\/strong>. in 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15. Oliver Furth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Alongside consulting for\u00a0LACMA\u2019S Decorative Arts Council<\/strong>\u00a0as chair emeritus,\u00a0Oliver M. Furth<\/strong>\u00a0shares his vast knowledge of the city\u2019s creative scene with such clients as Imagine\u2019s Michael Rosenberg, Arianna Huffington, Beautycon Media CEO Moj Mahdara, UTA\u2019s Jim Berkus, and CAA\u2019s Michael Rosenfeld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
