Interior designer<\/strong> Oliver M Furth<\/span><\/em><\/strong>, a Los Angeles<\/strong> native, is a fourth-generation resident and a fixture in his city\u2019s design<\/strong> and cultural<\/strong> scene. His resume includes time spent at Christie\u2019s \u2013 in the Decorative Arts department \u2013 and in the studios of Michael Smith<\/a><\/strong>, Martyn Lawrence Bullard<\/a><\/strong>, Trip Haenisch<\/a>,<\/strong> and the late Greg Jordan<\/strong>. Oliver<\/em><\/strong> has owned his own design studio<\/strong> since 2004, creating elegant<\/em>, modern-classic interiors<\/a><\/strong> for discerning clients such as major players in the film and television industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known for his expertise in both historic decorative arts<\/em> and contemporary collectible design<\/em>. DREAM HOME IN MALIBU<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to this five-level sensation<\/em>, in Malibu<\/strong>, that offers stunning views to the ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oliver<\/em><\/strong> did 90 percent of the decorating in 90 days, which meant he relied on a lot of vintage<\/strong> pieces and modern furniture<\/a><\/strong> they could get quickly. And even then, he managed to get the right things and put them in the right places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The living room<\/a><\/strong> was dressed up with furniture<\/a><\/strong> in earth tones<\/a><\/strong> that contrast with the white walls, making the living room<\/strong><\/a> look masculine<\/em> yet airy<\/em>. A surfboard designed by Kelly Wearstler<\/a><\/strong> can be seen in the background, underlining the young and free <\/em>style of the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine waking up every day with the pacific ocean<\/strong> just outside your window. For sure, all of your concerns would go away quickly, right? Again, the earth tones<\/a><\/strong> reign and the clean lines make everything look like a ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And speaking of the ocean<\/strong>, the bathroom<\/a><\/strong> almost takes us there with a creative and stimulating mix of lighting<\/a><\/em> and blue painting<\/em>. That looks like a contemporary art installation<\/a><\/em>, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not a house to impress, but a home to live in.<\/em><\/strong> Oliver M Furth<\/em><\/strong> acknowledges that with confidence, adding that this residence was not supposed to be like ordinary beach-houses<\/strong> in white and blue tones<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner, an agent for the Creative Artists Agency who represents many comedians, such as Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Mindy Kaling, is very fond of the outdoors<\/a><\/strong> and has two teenage sons. It is a modern<\/a><\/strong> and contemporary<\/a><\/strong> house designed by the architect Stephen Kent<\/strong> and it has a beautiful roof terrace. And the views\u2026<\/em> Oh well, we already mentioned that, right?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MODERNIST LANDMARK IN L.A.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This incredible house was built in 1948 by architects A. Quincy Jones<\/strong> and Whitney R. Smith<\/strong> and now belongs to a painter and art collector from Los Angeles, Mary Weatherford<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest challenge was to use 21st-century design without compromising the architect\u2019s masterpiece<\/strong>. Needless to say that Oliver M Furth<\/em><\/strong> nailed it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe invested huge amounts of time and energy in the service of being a faithful steward of this property. The furnishings concept is a hodgepodge of treasured memorabilia and objects that Mary Weatherford<\/strong> has collected over decades, alongside mid-century classics<\/strong> and signature pieces from a variety of contemporary<\/strong> makers.<\/p>\n\n\n
