The Luxury Home<\/span><\/em><\/strong>, in Bel Air<\/em>, California<\/em>, has a serious kerb appeal thanks to its immaculately landscaped grounds<\/strong> and outstanding views<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Californian Luxury Home By Claudia Afshar<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Built-in 1990, this Luxury Home <\/em><\/strong>has a five-bedroom, seven-bathroom property that is very spacious (the garage has enough space for seven cars), and the entrance hall is unusually generous with soaring ceiling heights. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cWe aimed to create a powerful first impression of this home, \u200bstarting with the grand entrance hall,\u201d<\/em> says the designer, who grew up in England. \u201cThe goal was to transform it into a luxurious and timeless space with outstanding details.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve this result, the interior designer<\/em><\/strong> specified wall panels to enhance the sense of grandeur<\/strong> and painted the interior with rich greys and warm whites<\/strong>, which blend beautifully with the original stone and wood floors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stunning custom fireplace<\/strong> in Greystone marble <\/strong>and mirror and an antique brass pendant suspended above a bespoke coffee table created an airy, modern take on classic design motifs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Appreciation of Afshar\u2019s design was cultivated from an early age; her father ran a successful real estate development company<\/strong>, and the interior designer<\/em><\/strong> was an apprentice at her mother\u2019s award-winning interior design firm. Now based in Los Angeles<\/em><\/strong>, her work has a contemporary European sensibility<\/strong> and the designer\u2019s clients range<\/strong> from families to movie stars<\/strong> and high-end real estate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur client wanted a sophisticated home, with a glamorous-yet-playful feel,\u201d<\/em> she explains.\u00a0 \u201cEach room has an impressive piece of art and decor to make it memorable.\u201d<\/em> In the entry hall, for example, an artwork by French-born L.A.-based street artist Mr. Brainwash adds an unexpected pop of colour and gives a nod to the more upbeat styling of the dining room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchored by a 14ft bespoke Arabescato<\/em> marble dining table<\/strong>, the clean-lined space is \u201cthe perfect combination of lightness and lively,\u201d<\/em> adds Afshar. Dramatic linear pendant light <\/strong>and two commissioned pieces by the American artist and product designer Christopher Florentino \u2018Flore\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, complete the space, adding a bold counterpoint <\/strong>to the rich grey walls<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is not easy to choose one part of this house as a favourite, but I do love the dining room,\u201d<\/em> she says. \u201cThe high-gloss, reflective ceiling creates the effect of enlarging the space slightly and off-sets the light fixture wonderfully.\u201d<\/em> It\u2019s a luxe touch which elevates the room and the perfect visual metaphor for the interiors of the whole house: timeless yet contemporary with a splash of playfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
