Humble whitewashed walls set the backdrop to a reasonable but precious elements palette. Displayed wooden beams, distressed chevron oak floors, and loads of sharpened white marble all cooperate to create an understated touch of opulence.

Combine to all this a dramatically revised black and white staircase. The staircase not only copies the façade of this theatrical structure but unites each level, all the while acknowledging the memoir this modern house has lived over.
Each area of the modern house has been superbly matched with a selection of mid-century furniture pieces. In the living room, an oversized arched sofa by furniture designer Vladimir Kagan envelopes guests. The obscure webbed lounge chair by rich woodworker, designer and furniture maker George Nakashima is a stand out item. Other iconic items include the Gio Ponti dining chairs and striking Serge Mouille lights.
