Full of colours and joy, Rougemont’s universe is composed of cylinders, ellipses, totems and serpentine lines, offering a polychromic symbiosis of Minimalism & Pop art. His volume work in the 1960s is emblematic of this period, which saw the evolution of a plastic search towards geometrical volumes. Like the American Minimalists’ work, such as Donald Judd, Rougemont’s work is both audacious and pioneering.

His monumental pieces can be admired throughout the world: in Paris or in Tokyo, at the Hakone Museum, in Quito or in the Middle East. In 1990, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris (Museum of Decorative Arts) presented an important retrospective about this major contemporary French artist, member of the prestigious French Académie des Beaux-Arts.
