Ronald Winston was canny enough to purchase the jewel for $1.3 million. The Gemmological Institute of America has classified this colored diamond as Fancy Vivid Orange. The name “Pumpkin Diamond” is an ode to Halloween; Winston purchased this most expensive colored diamond on the day before Halloween.
