Inside New York’s Highest Penthouse by Kelly Behun

Interior designer Kelly Behun has shared her insight for the penthouse inside 432 Park Avenue — the slender New York skyscraper designed by Rafael Viñoly. The habitation is established on the 92nd floor of the 96-storey skyscraper in the center of Manhattan.
Kelly Behun was tasked with conceiving a cozy space that would attract prospects for the $40 million penthouse, which fills the south side of the skinny tower top floor. The building by Uruguayan architect Viñoly was finished in 2015 and, at 1,396 feet, holds the headline of the highest private tower in the westerly region.
“My goal was to create a timelessly elegant space that feels warm and comfortable. My favorite aspect of the new york penthouse has to be the views through those oversize windows, to have all of Manhattan unfurl below you in this way is nothing short of extraordinary, and nothing I would do inside could ever upstage that, so I just sought to create a warm embrace from which to enjoy it.” Kelly Behun
The hues used for covers, upholstery and other textiles everywhere in the penthouse were selected from the buildings and infrastructure that can be viewed within the huge square windows.

The interior designer crowded the apartment with luxury furniture and accessories by New York designers. In the corner living space, a plaster artwork by artist Yolande Batteau comprises the entire fireplace wall and is decorated with gold edges in an Art Deco pattern. Two guest bedrooms are furnished in opposing colors: one with light walls and the other line in a deep blue. The master suite, which conquers the other corner, is also decorated in pastel colors. A custom 20-foot upholstered headboard highlights a geometric pattern inspired by the work of minimalist artist Frank Stella. A sculptural freestanding bathtub is located in a display of a window, so guests can envision themselves appreciating the view while taking a soak.
