Back in the days, Avenida de Montevideu was a choice address for Porto’s well-heeled upper class. Now, the Portuguese city, that has been considered many times as the top European destination and that is always well-ranked in the worldwide matter, just turned one of its 19-centuries palatial mansions into a gorgeous and imposing modern hotel.
A breezy 20-minute drive from the city’s considerably more dense center, the long esplanade in the Foz do Douro neighborhood featured an ornate necklace of 19th-century palatial mansions with a very unique design. Only a handful of these stately homes have survived Porto’s gentrification, but the debut of the 68-room modern hotel, Vila Foz, shows how a thoughtful and light-handed modern design and architectural intervention can so vividly rejuvenate a faded pile.

For this modern hotel, full credit goes to the architect Miguel Cardoso and for the interior design ideas, it goes to interior designer Nini Andrade Silva who together, created a completely abode for design lovers through this interior design project. Merging the 19-century lyrical design with the contemporary concept, Vila Foz truly enhances the vividness of the city of Porto.
A hotel design that feels wonderfully out of time due to its historical and aesthetical accuracy. From the windows, the Atlantic ocean gracefully greats its guests and begs them to stay for longer. It’s a compelling scenario through this modern hotel!
