Jennifer Aniston Reveals Her Modern Home to AD Magazine

The Hollywood celebrity Jennifer Aniston opened the door of her LA modern home to an exclusive interview with Architectural Digest Magazine. The actress confesses her passion for design and reveals her refined taste “If I were not an actress, I would like to be a designer, I love the process…There is something about choosing fabrics and finishes that feed my soul.”

Aniston was deeply involved in the residential project, the redesign of a house in Bel Air designed by the architect A. Quincy Jones of 1965. “There was a very dramatic entrance sequence that led to this great door painted in Chinese red,” recalls the actress. “Aesthetically, it was the furthest thing I wanted, but I immediately had the feeling that it could work, it’s hard to describe, but I felt a connection.”

Aniston with the help of interior designer Stephen Shadley, with whom he had already worked in his previous house in Los Angeles, work together to preserve the modern spirit of the original scheme and organic materials. “Jen is attracted to wood, stone, and bronze, materials that have a real substance and depth, no matter how beautiful or glamorous something is, it has to be warm and cozy,” says Shadley.

Aniston seconded the motion. “Being attractive is important, but comfort is essential,” he says, noting the Jean Royère Polar Bear vintage sofa, the Jacques Adnet armchairs and the Mies van der Rohe sofa in the living room.

Jennifer describes her design style as “the Old World meets the New World”, a mixture of hand-painted paper and luxury furniture from the mid-20th century, silk and polished cement carpets, old Japanese panels and abstract expressionist paintings. “In every corner, you have an experience, wherever you look, you have a view, it’s very difficult to achieve that,” says Aniston.
