Art Basel 2018 week is about to start, and the art world is currently heading to the charming city of Basel. Art Basel name has become the ultimate art fair, with an expanding slate of programs around the world, a steady stream of new content year-round, and an impressive social media presence. Although Basel is the biggest event, Design Miami is bringing the design. This year, the lineup includes “unique, rare, and one-of-a-kind works with”, a focus on contemporary trends.
The Design fair is always filled with an plenty of interesting objects, many of which are created in collaboration with contemporary artists. The design event brings together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce.

Limited edition Feltri, by Gaetano Pesce, for Cassina, by Raf Simons
Calvin Klein makes its debut at Design Miami/Basel with an installation celebrating Italian designer Gaetano Pesce’s work. The designer’s Feltri chair, designed in 1987 for Cassina, is presented in an environment inspired by an authentic barn and reinterpreted by creative director Raf Simons using one-of-a-kind American heirloom quilts from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Todd Merrill Studio
As one of the first gallerists to realize the significance of postwar American studio design, Merrill has dramatically increased its popularity. Their dynamic, unique, and frequently groundbreaking pieces contribute to today’s increasingly relevant gray space between art and design.

Watercolour Collection by Nendo, presented by Friedman Benda
New York gallery Friedman Benda presents a new body of work from the Tokyo-based Nendo, a collection created to impress the illusion of watercolor paintings on paper. The 18 pieces are made of folded sheets of metal finished with a technique that makes them appear like pieces of paper, then painted by hand to mimic a light blue watercolor effect.
Anne Holtrop for Maniera
Belgian gallery Maniera has been working closely with international architects, selecting furniture that brings their signature aesthetic to a small scale. Athe gallery will present new work by Dutch architect Anne Holtrop, including furniture, lighting, and accessories that form micro-architectures based on the Holtrop’s shape and material sensibility.
Design at Large, presented by François Halard
Design at Large initiative was consigned to photographer François Halard, who is exploring the lasting impact of good design on our lives and on the world around us. “I am looking at how the past has influenced the now and how the now may influence the tomorrow, it is all linked,” says Halard. The exhibition includes iconic elements of Jean Prouvè’s architecture, Gaetano Pesce’s interiors for the Dujardin children’s store.
“A New Layer Taiwan” presented by Spazio Nobile Gallery
The National Taiwanese Craft Research and Development Institute, in collaboration with Belgian gallery Spazio Nobile, “A New Layer Taiwan” is an ongoing project fostering creative relations between Taiwanese craftsmen and international designers.

Founded by Yu Wang and Xiao Lu, Gallery ALL is committed to a broad artistic and design dialogue. It is a curation-led, multidisciplinary gallery, presenting existing works and commissions new ones.
