Inside Neil Patrick Harris' Luxurious New York Home

How I Met Your Mother shined a light on how it is to be a New Yorker and how it is to live in the Big Apple. Neil Patrick Harris was part of that process and in a way, he became a New York symbol! The actor and his partner acquired a bed and breakfast townhouse in Harlem back in 2013, which they renovated, transforming it into a truly Luxurious New York Home. The couple is now selling their Harlem Brownstone for $10.1 million and we bring you a sneak peak of this incredible celebrity home.

The building has 8,000 square-feet and it is spread over five storeys! It includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as a secret room on its top floor. According to Harris, the Harlem Brownstone is a dear place to his family:

“Our kids have spent the majority of their lives there. It’s a legitimately special place.”

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka renovated the old bed and breakfast, elevating it and creating a warm and inviting home. The place has rich colors and restored woodwork features as well as incredible artwork and taxidermy animals which are scattered throughout! There’s visual interest in every corner of the amazing celebrity home and its design is both unique and sophisticated. A particularly noteworthy decor piece on the ground floor is a chandelier designed by Carolina Fontoura Alzaga, featuring bicycle chains in place of traditional crystal ropes.

On the Harlem Brownstone’s second level, the dining room and kitchen are flooded with natural light, and the deck allows one to enjoy the city’s surroundings. Further upstairs, the private oasis, the master bedroom… The ensuite comprises a spa-like bathroom AND an outdoor hot tub! Truly luxurious! Finally, on the home’s uppermost floor, the office, a magic room which is concealed behind a trick door — a vintage poster of a magician, whose eye, when pressed, opens up to reveal the couple’s collection of magical memorabilia.

The Harlem Brownstone has a few other incredible perks such as a terrace garden, an expansive deck, and a rooftop. The basement also includes a wine cellar, and an at-home cinema. The Luxurious New York Home is an ode to contemporary design and a great inspiration!
