Still in his 20’s, Ryan Korban is taking NYC’s interior design scene by storm. The young designer has championed numerous projects for an enviable client base, would look something like a guest list for one of New York’s swankiest cocktail parties, with names such as Jessica Stam, James Franco, Vanessa Traina, and Natasha Poly. One mustn’t forget, however, one of the most important names which boosted the Korban’s reputation – Alexander Wang. Their collaborations have been documented extensively on a global scale.
Drawing on inspirations ranging from Monet paintings to Helmut Newton photographs, he creates seductive, wondrous spaces to redefine traditional design for a new generation. With a spectacularly captivating eye, Korban is one of the most meticulous self-made and untrained stylists today, ensuring that the spaces he defines are both attractive and inspirational.
Korban’s ethos and manifesto sees him pursue his belief that a living space can be exact and polished, yet maintain a high degree of comfort, and most important, livability. His meticulous attention to detail comes as a surprised, for someone with his background and experience, yet keeping his approach fresh. Focusing on attractiveness and inspiration, Korban also pushes forward a sense of lost romance, an ideal considered by many to be fading and quickly. His technique is to incorporate something unbelievably ornate, rich, or brazen and strip these unique pieces of all connotations, redefining interior design. His work results are truly unique, and encompass all key points. Scroll down to see some more of his fascinating work, and what to expect from his new book – “Luxury Redefined”.
