The Story Behind MWM STUDIO
Founded in 2015 by London designers Olivia Watts and Claudia Mitcham, MWM STUDIO emerged after its founders had spent a decade working in the Middle East. Originally established in Dubai, the practice later expanded internationally and today operates studios in both Dubai and Cape Town.
That journey has given MWM STUDIO an interesting cultural perspective. Its multinational team brings together designers from the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Belgium, Lebanon, the Philippines, India, South Africa and other backgrounds, creating a creative environment shaped by different references and experiences.
Today, MWM STUDIO describes its practice as an interior design consultancy working across residential and commercial projects. Its portfolio extends from private homes and luxury residential developments to hospitality and F&B environments. The studio works alongside architects and specialist consultants, accompanying projects from the first concept through to completion.
With ten years in the industry, 84 completed projects and 14 industry awards listed by the studio, its evolution reflects both experience and a continuing desire to explore new ideas.
The MWM STUDIO Aesthetic: Materiality, Balance and Detail
There is a recognizable restraint within the work of MWM STUDIO.
Natural stone meets warm timber. Dark metalwork creates definition. Smoked glass, bespoke joinery and soft upholstery introduce layers without overwhelming the architecture. The studio has stated that part of its mission is to bring the quality, detailing and experience associated with high-end hospitality into residential design.

Skyview Villa in Dubai Hills is a compelling example. The residence incorporates spaces including a cinema, sauna, steam room, wine-tasting room, golf simulator and rooftop social terrace. A restrained stone palette, bespoke furniture, custom storage and handcrafted joinery connect these different environments through a consistent visual language. The project won the Interior Design Scheme – Middle East & Africas category at the 2025 International Design & Architecture Awards.
In hospitality, MWM STUDIO has also worked on Two Birds Sheraton, transforming a rooftop restaurant, bar and pool deck while responding to the established character of the Sheraton environment and the experience of its guests.
