At Shalini Misra Ltd they create global multi-award-winning interior design projects, specializing in luxury interiors for residential developments. Shalini Misra is well-traveled and well-read, inspired as much by ancient elemental philosophy as by contemporary architectural theory. Bold architecture and British craft come together inside the top designer’s north London home. Let’s go inside!
The dining area is large to accommodate an extended table and it flows into two seating areas. A vintage chandelier above the dining table is a nod to vintage craft. The marble flooring is custom-designed by Shalini Misra Ltd. Inspiration and Ideas is utterly head of heels with these interior design ideas.
No matter the scale of the luxury home project, for each the company crafts an entirely distinct concept and design narrative aligned with its clients’ vision, ensuring that no project is ever the same.
Taking a holistic approach, the modern design philosophy is centered around fusing old with new, layering lighting, textures, and pattern, while playing with volume. The curve of the main staircase is enhanced with an ombre toned runner with tones picked up in the photograph on the wall. The white-painted inside of the balustrade contrasts beautifully with the custom walnut-painted exterior of the balustrade. The staircase of this London home was treated as a grand architectural element of the house, providing a striking feature as you enter the entrance, and as you walk up and down through the levels.
The building was originally a traditional Victorian villa. Shalini Misra has made a number of clever architectural interventions to create a feeling of space without needing to add an extension. At the back, the house is now almost completely glazed on the lower- and upper ground floors, offering views of the garden from the main living areas
