When most people think about interior designing they tend to think of it as a superficial profession, not even an art form, which it is. What most people don’t realize is that the same profession they tend to look upon might change an otherwise mundane existence into a daily emotional experience that lets you live away from the boundaries of your day to day routine.

Through the years many have attempted to steps into this ever-changing realm, and although many have led a long successful career, few were the ones that really changed one’s perception of space and its use. Here are 10 interior designers to follow in 2017.

Peter Marino

Marino’s designs can be usually characterized by emphasized materiality, texture, scale light and the constant dialogue between interior and exterior. He is widely known for his residential and retail interior designs for the most iconic names in the fashion and art worlds. Notable and recently completed retail projects include Ermenegildo Zegna flagship stores in Paris, Milan, New York, Tokyo, and Shangai or Chanel boutiques in Paris, New York and Singapore.

Kelly Wearstler

Since its 1995 inception, the Kelly Wearstler Studio has grown from boutique interior design firm to global lifestyle brand. Driven by the signature aesthetic and idiosyncratic spirit of its creator and namesake, the Los Angeles-based company boasts a diverse range of modalities, taking an all-encompassing approach to design that includes everything from residential and commercial interiors to lighting, fabrics, furniture and home accessories and highly-anticipated limited-run gallery editions.

David Collins

David Collins Studio put its stamp on a multitude of private homes, its founder’s specialty was four-star hospitality venues whose eye-popping sense of style embodied the company’s credo: “Bespoke, be creative, be better.” This legacy is truly something unique in the design universe and gives the best of the luxury and exclusive interior projects from the UK to the world.

Dimore Studio

Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran invested in their individual experience with the profession and study of Design, Art and Fashion, and founded DIMORESTUDIO in 2003.
Since that moment, they have designed and carried out every project in a personal and recognizable way: objects created by historical design masters live together with reclaimed materials and other “bespoke” objects to create and forge a particular atmosphere.

India Mahdavi

India Mahdavi is the reigning queen of color. “It’s the best way to bring the sunshine into space,” says the Paris-based interior designer. “Sunshine is happiness, and my work is about happiness.” Her daring clients clamor for more. “They aren’t looking for mainstream,” Mahdavi explains. “They tend to be people who are looking ahead.” Indeed, the strong individuality of her rooms is not for the faint of heart.

Jean Louis Denoit

Recognized worldwide for his eclectic and emblematic interiors, Jean-Louis Deniot plays in a multiplicity of repertoires, never sticking to a purity of style, rather letting his academic training translate into a vocabulary that is both informal and bold. If he does contemporary, it is always with a weighty dose of history and references infused into it to produce a timeless yet timely scenario.

Joyce Wang

Blessed with a gimlet eye for detail and an inherent feel for texture, Hong Kong-born designer Joyce Wang is certainly one to watch. She’s recently wrapped her Art Central exhibition, showcasing a collaboration with crystal connoisseurs Swarovski which featured her mod, stimulating reinterpretation of the OTT chandelier, firmly cementing her spot on our design radar.

Miles Redd

He is known for his quirky brand of cozy glamor. His unique aesthetic vision is characterized by playful mélanges of high and low, invigorated with whimsical splashes of color and modern gestures. Drawing on inspirations ranging from Richard Avedon fashion photographs to Rene Gruau illustrations, Redd has crafted interiors for a wide array of venues. His trademark approach to design has brought to life rooms infused with boldness, fantasy, and sophistication.

Yabu Pushelberg

Yabu Pushelberg is an international design firm, with studios in Toronto and SoHo, New York, founded in 1980 by Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu.
